What You Can Expect

The master’s program specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis is a full-time graduate program for students who have earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field and are seeking further training and/or professional certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The 42-credit master’s program offers a prescribed course sequence designed to fulfill the didactic and experiential requirements necessary to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), which is a master's level certification offered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). The program sequence begins each Fall and is designed to be completed in 2-years (six consecutive semesters), including summer terms. As part of the required coursework, students spend approximately 20 hours per week engaged in clinical (practicum) activities, under the direct supervision of UM faculty and staff and complete a capstone research project. Training also focuses on ethical and responsible behavior analytic practice, consistent with the BACB Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Analysts.
